Today Is A Clean Slate

Every morning I wake up, grab a cup of coffee and land in my recliner. There I contemplate.

An assortment of thoughts travels through this sieve brain of mine, testing which ones will remain and which thoughts will fall through into oblivion.

I’d like to imagine most thoughts are profound, the product of true genius.

Often I consider what the day may hold in store and inevitably I seek a word from God.

As I filtered through a pile of clutter mixed with a stack of unfulfilled intentions, the Lord reminded me of a frame of mind I had traveled through before.

He said, “Today is a clean slate.” I grabbed my notebook and a pen while the inspiration kept right on coming.

I’d like to share what the Lord reminded me of.

Today is a clean slate.  I have the power to direct this day or let it control me.

I must choose my frame of mind. I can be positive or negative.

I can allow myself to be overwhelmed with what I haven’t accomplished or where I’ve faltered, the mistakes I’ve made or regrets I’ve had.

I can wear them to remind myself not to be too optimistic or I can take the mercy and grace God has given me and make it a great day!

I have the power to choose how I will greet the day.

Every day is a brand new day. Yesterday is gone. You can’t get it back or change it.

The past is like water that has traveled under the bridge. It will never flow backward without an act of God.

You have the present.   You don’t have tomorrow.  Today is all you get to work with.

Not choosing to embrace today with a clean slate is choosing to wear your yesterdays.

We must choose each day what we will allow to control us, whether it be possessions, our job, attitudes, people, or our desires.

Each day we invest in a direction. Loose ends and clutter weigh us down and clog creativity and forward progress.

Choose something you can rid yourself of that is bogging you down.

Get rid of regrets, unforgiveness, failures, and things that are not serving a purpose.

Repair what you choose to keep. Toss what doesn’t fit, is broken, or you haven’t used or won’t use in the near future.

Only possess what you can manage or it will manage you.

Live with intent and on purpose.

Learn and practice discipline.

Plan your work and work your plan. Make a list of things you want to accomplish today and check off completed tasks.

Reward yourself!

Be kind to yourself. Talk to yourself. Say, “I did it. I completed tasks today. Good job self!”

If you don’t plan to succeed then purposefully work toward a goal, you will end up with what you’ve always done in the past.

Inertia causes decay. Stagnation stinks.  Nature teaches us bacteria and slime live in stagnant waters but moving water is full of oxygen which gives life.

You can have life working inside of you! I found hope, life, and purpose when I chose to live inside the pages of God’s Word.

He keeps reminding me of things I’ve forgotten through the clutter and distraction of life.

He speaks directly to the issues I deal with on a day to day basis through the Bible and my quiet time with him.

Choose to start today with a clean slate. Start a brand new life each day.

Choose God and his principles and find the power to change what has been clogging your life.

“The Lord is gracious and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. The Lord is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.”
Psalm 145: 8-9

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”  (He wants you to have hope!)
Jeremiah 29:11

I have determined to start each day with a clean slate. I start with a blank page each day and write my story!

I built on my success and forgive myself for being less than perfect and I remember.

I remember that God has built into my day all the grace, mercy, and forgiveness I will ever need
